Will Arondir and Bronwyn End up Together in The Rings of Power? Explained

Prime Video’s the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set in a world thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and LOTR series. -Familiar characters while inventing new ones to serve different plots. To keep in touch with the world Tolkien created, the show’s creators drew some parallels between the stories audiences are familiar with and those told on the show. One of these parallels appears in the story of Arondir, an elf, and Bronwyn, a human.

This elven-human love story is reminiscent of the famous pairing of Aragorn and Arwen in The Lord of the Rings series. Although the latter got together, will it be the same for the ‘Rings of Power’ couple? Let’s find out.

Will Arondir and Bronwyn End up Together?

Once we discover that something is going on between Arondir and Bronwyn, we also realize that the nature of their relationship is highly forbidden. They are of different races and have kept their relationship secret, although not as much. that the rest of the city already suspects it. Another reason why their love story is frowned upon is that the people of Tirharad don’t like elves very much and in return, the elves also look down on them mainly because they chose Morgoth in the previous war. Despite this, Arondir and Bronwyn are in love and don’t seem to care what others think.

When the elves have to pack up and leave their post in Tirharad, instead of going with the other elves, Arondir goes to Bronwyn, possibly to decide what to do next. However, discussion of the future of their relationship will be shelved if more pressing concerns arise. After that, both Arondir and Bronwyn are in life-threatening circumstances, so it doesn’t look like they’ll be talking about moving in together anytime soon. We also know that the danger only increases at level, which means one or both of you may not make it out alive.

The tragedy in his future is also foretold (more or less) by another elf, who warns Arondir that past couples always ended bitterly. Take a look at other elven-human relationships and apart from Arwen and Aragorn, nothing good seems to come of a mortal and an immortal falling in love. The romance between the wood elf Tauriel and the dwarf Kili in The Hobbit film series also ended in tragedy when the latter was killed during the Battle of the Five. armies. Likewise, there are other mortal-immortal relationships in Tolkien’s stories that do not end well.

There is the tale of Beren and Lúthien, where both die; and Aegnor and Andreth who, despite their love, never get together; and a Sylvan elf Mithrellas and a Númenórean man, Imrazor, who also didn’t part too well.

In addition to the sad endings of their stories, the forbidden nature of elven-human relationships also stems from the fact that they don’t really like each other. We see this in both Tirharad and Divided Seas when the elf Galadriel is found by humans lost at sea who immediately condemn her upon seeing her ears. As humans are still working their way up the social ladder, elves are also quick to judge, especially considering that elves are immortal and live long lives compared to humans, whose lifespans are often a blink of an eye to them. It is also difficult for elves to fall in love with humans due to their short lifespans, meaning elves must mourn their mate for the rest of eternity or sacrifice their own immortality as Arwen and Luthien did.

Taking all of these factors into account, the chances of Bronwyn and Arondir getting a happy ending are pretty slim. Fingers crossed anyway.
