Santo Ending Explained: Who Is Santo? Can Millan Be Saved?

Netflix’s Spanish-language action crime series Santo is more about keeping audiences engaged with very few and questionably confusing revelations than it is about having lots of exciting content.

However, the execution and fast-paced action are entertaining to watch, while the first few episodes are essentially just there to confuse, it’s not. Overall “Holy” is a good watch but not worth remembering.

Santo Season 1 Plot

Police officer Miguel Millán is working on a case in Madrid trying to solve the murder of a man and the subsequent kidnapping of his son. The man killed was a criminal named Cristóbal, and the crime has enough in common with other similar murders to point to an infamous drug lord named Santo as the prime suspect.

Following the clues the police have; Millan and his team arrive at an abandoned warehouse, from which they rescue a man named Cardona. This man turns out to be an undercover Brazilian cop who was also trying to reach Santo.

However, Cardona does not remember exactly how she got into such a situation or how she carved crosses on her eyelids, a mark that every follower of the dangerous Santo cult carries on his body. As it gradually turns out, Santo is nothing short of a saint or a father to his followers, and they would do anything to protect their patron saint.

Santo himself is almost pure evil, as he often performs sacrificial rituals, kidnapping small children to behead them and drinking their blood to become stronger. After several kidnappings, the two police officers team up to hunt down the notorious criminal. All of this comes with a major catch, however, as no one has seen Santo’s true identity or face.

What Had Happened with Cardona And Millan’s In the Pasts?

During his time in Brazil, Cardona first learned about Santo and confronted his atrocious actions head-on. Cardona’s lover Vera had her nephew kidnapped and killed by the drug lord, and it was while chasing the man that his police gave him an interesting opportunity for the first time. Cardona could become an undercover cop working Santos operations in exchange for giving up everything about his normal life, and Cardona readily agreed. While working in one of the drug camps, he met Barbara Azevedo, a woman who became closely involved in his life.

Although Bárbara was Santo’s romantic partner for a long time, she and Cardona fell in love and began their own affair. This was soon discovered and the entire farm was set on fire as Cardona was led away. Sometime later, during a mission, Brazilian police attacked Santos’ gang, trying not to know Cardona’s true identity, and attempted to kill him as well. Activities.

Cardona is not convinced, however, knowing that Barbara is in danger and now he is trying to work alone to save her. After reaching it, he takes Bárbara to protect her and flies from Brazil to Spain. However, Santo’s gang catches up with them here as well, as Barbara admits that she had told them her whereabouts herself, as she still believes Santo is a holy father who would fight others to absolve their sins. On the other hand, Millan was involved in his own part in shady activities in Madrid.

Even though he was a policeman, Millán had worked with criminals like Cristóbal and received money from them to protect them. While it seems Millán’s intention in doing so was monetary, his unfortunate past had a lot to do with it. A few years earlier, Millán’s professional partner had been murdered by a psychopath, and the police officer always felt he could have done more to save his partner. In modern times, while working with Cristóbal, he had fallen in love with his-year-old wife, Maria, and the two soon began an affair.

While everything was going well, Cristóbal’s young son saw the two sharing an intimate moment and told his father everything. Cristóbal was shot dead that same day, and it seemed that Millán could be behind it. Although the police officer personally threatened some of the men involved in the crime not to share important details with the police, his professional partner Susi became quite suspicious of the man. Susi was already collecting information about Millán herself, but she still had something to report to her department.

How Did the Two Men Track Santo?

After Santos’ men held Cardona and Bárbara captive in Madrid, they were taken to the abandoned warehouse, where they drugged Cardona and introduced him to the gang by cutting off his eyelids with crosses. Despite being rescued by Madrid police, Bárbara was nowhere to be found until Cardona received a letter from her about his whereabouts. Cardona quickly makes his way to the spot where he finds his lover tied up in a car, but Millan and his team are also watching the entire situation from a distance of. After Cardona was rescued and interrogated, neither Millán nor Susi was there convinced. because of what he told them, but they doubted the Brazilian’s intentions.

When they finally see Cardona trying to save Barbara, who they know is Santo’s partner, the police rush in and take Cardona away. Shortly before, Barbara managed to deliver a USB stick to Cardona, and when she returned to her safe house, she checked its contents. In a startling revelation for himself and the audience, the cop discovers that Santo’s men had drugged him during the ritual at the warehouse and forced him to kill one of the young men. So, Cardona, had blood on his hands, although he didn’t remember it.

Barbara is taken to a hospital by the Madrid police, where she is admitted to convalescence, but Cardona also follows her there. Here they see the news that a group of young children have been kidnapped and immediately realize that this is Santo’s work. Although Bárbara keeps explaining how Santo will purify their souls through his sacrifice and everything, Cardona thinks again about the woman’s safety and gets her out of the hospital. On the other hand, one of the drug dealers with whom Millán worked in reported his involvement in criminals to the police, and the Interior Department opened an investigation into the matter.

Using secretly collected voice recordings from Millan’s car, the AI takes over the situation and suspends Millan from his job. But just as Millan is facing further pressure from the authorities, he receives word that his daughter must be taken in. to the hospital and says goodbye. In his absence, Susi leads the investigation and the Madrid police rush to rescue the group of kidnapped children.

While Bárbara remembers the place where Santo’s men held her hostage, Cardona realizes that the drug lord’s hideout is in a place called San Miguel in Madrid. He meets with Millán and shares this information, and Millán then tells his department about it. However, a report of another crime at the time is brought to the police and a shootout ensues, killing the police chief. This hits Millán very hard, as he also feels responsible for his death, and decides to search for Santo alone.

He contacts Maria and tries to use all sources to find out about Santo’s gang and tries to infiltrate the club where they operate. But the officer is mistreated by the group of criminals, and although he manages to escape, he is soon kidnapped by a car full of Santo’s men and taken to his hideout. Meanwhile, Cardona’s old colleague from the Brazilian police comes to meet him and isn’t too happy to see Cardona with Bárbara. The woman manages to drive a wedge between the two men and then has a disagreement of her own with Cardona.

The police officer and his colleague follow her through the streets and see her being taken away from a car, which she voluntarily gets into. The two men now make their way to San Miguel in search of Santo’s hideout in order to apprehend him. and save Barbara too.

Who Is Santo? Can Millan Be Saved?

In the hiding place, Millán wakes up to see Bárbara and two men approaching her. Bárbara, who now seems to be running the whole gang, tricks Millán into having a drink, which is starting to drive him insane. He is then taken to a large chamber where other members of the cult are preparing for a sacrificial ritual with one of the kidnapped children. Their intention is to trick Millán into committing the same act as Cardona before, and in a trance, they hand Millán a sharp blade to decapitate the boy in this

In any case, both Cardona and the police led by Susi arrive at the scene and intervene. A shootout ensues, with many of the gang members being gunned down while Millán and Cardona chase after a fleeing Bárbara. The police officer is then seen waking up in a hospital room where Sue was looking for him. He asks about Cardona, but Sue admits that no one knows where she is as she seems to have disappeared. Susi then gives Millán a phone that plays a video, and Millan shockingly discovers that his own daughter has now been kidnapped by a group of men. In the end, it is revealed that Barbara is the one who did this while she was recording the video. Contrary to what everyone believed since

In the beginning, the Saint was never a man; Instead, it was Barbara all along. She was the one leading the hidden gang but had always kept her identity hidden while pretending to be the drug lord’s associate. With this information, it’s clear that she used Cardona’s attraction and feelings for her to pave an easy route from Brazil to Spain. He’s also smart enough to try and get the police officers prosecuting his case to commit child murder and keep videotapes of it.

It seems that Barbara was convinced of her effect on Cardona, which is why she allowed him to watch the video of him killing the boy, and the trust paid off in the end. Although he has realized his true evil nature and true identity. As Santo, Cardona saves her from being killed or arrested.
