A Knives Out Mystery, out 2 includes production updates, casting news, trailers, and most importantly, the Netflix release date. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is an upcoming Netflix Original by mystery film. Written and directed by Rian Johnson. Although Netflix didn’t have exclusive rights to the first Knives Out movie, the streaming service spent $450 million to secure exclusive rights to the sequels.

Netflix has announced that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be released on Netflix on December 23, 2022. Ahead of its release on Netflix, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. The festival will take place between September 8th and 18th, 2022.

Rian Johnson’s ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Production Status

Official Production Status: Post-production (Last updated: 08/22/2022) On June 28th, Rian Johnson tweeted that filming had started while thinking of all the people of Greece, “for letting us do all this. “slay on its peaceful shores.” On July 30th, filming in Greece officially wrapped, prompting Rian Johnson to state that they were halfway through filming Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Filming finally wrapped on September 21, 2022. Netflix paid $450 million for the rights to Knives Out 2 and 3, giving Rian Johnson “immense creative control” over the sequels. The budget of each film is at least equal to the budget of the first, which means that both films will spend at least $80 million ($40 million each) on their budget.

Little is known about the plot of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery other than that Detective Benoit Blanc is investigating a new case. Rian Johnson has stated that apart from the return of Daniel Craig, this will be the only connection to the first film.

That means the Thrombey family won’t appear in any way. In an interview, Johnson said: “In my opinion, I don’t even see it as a sequel. For me it’s just that since we started working on it I’ve been like, ‘Look, if we can keep this going, the same. So, Agatha Christie wrote a lot of Poirot novels.

I mean, do that with Blanc and keep inventing more mysteries.” Brand new cast, brand new location, brand new mystery. It’s just another Benoit Blanc mystery and there seem to be so many different things you can do with it right? You know, it sounds like a lot of fun.
