“NCIS Hawai’i” is fast forwarding through its second season with last night’s episode 6 entitled “Changing Tides”. So far the season has featured some adventurous cases, including the season premiere episode’s big crossover event with “NCIS.” Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey), Kai Holman (Alex Tarrant), Lucy Tara (Yasmine Al-Bustami), Jesse Boone (Noah Mills), Ernie Malik (Jason Antoon) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) have faced supposed mythical monsters. in the holy land of Hawaii and even a homicidal street racer. However, “Changing Tides” depicts a dangerous case where a Marine accidentally died near seawater from an overdose of fentanyl.

The investigation quickly escalates when Kai and Jesse discover a sunken plane that was once filled with drugs and is seeping into the water. A group of divers, including Tyler Malone (Kyle Leatherberry), arrived and stole the rest of the hideout, originally owned by a Colombian cartel. Of course, they wanted their product back and pursued Tyler and his friends, leading Kai and Jesse to a raid that ultimately ended the surgery and saved Tyler’s life. the past trauma you had with the narcotic. Despite everything going on, the team had many personal issues to deal with, including Ernie. He finally got to talk about it in an emotional scene at the end of the episode. Lucy and the conversation involved a somber song that you may not have recognized. During the closing scenes of Turning Tides, Lucy and Ernie have an intense conversation. At the beginning of the episode, it is revealed that Ernie’s father had died months earlier and didn’t tell anyone on the team. Lucy only found out because she was seeking his help on the case and Ernie was researching South Carolina real estate law to find the best way to sell his father’s old house. Lucy wants Ernie to make that clear to her as it seems that Ernie and his father had a strained relationship, but he remains quiet for most of the episode.

Ernie only tells Lucy at the end that his father wasn’t around when he was little and when Ernie got a full trip to several colleges and wanted to show her that his father had moved away. As he reveals, the background sound that reinforces the emotional weight of the scene is called Dim by SYML (via Tunefind). The band is hugely popular, confirmed on Spotify, and has over 9.1 million monthly listeners. The song is from an EP released in 2021 with the exact same title. The music seems to fit the scene well and finally, Lucy and Ernie have a moment to reassure him that his father must have missed a great son.
