Rhaenyra goes to Storm’s End, where she meets a large number of potential suitors, but ultimately decides not to pursue any of them. Rhaenyra is informed to the king by Ser Otto, who received the information through a spy. Alice overhears them and decides to confront Rhaenyra privately. Rhaenyra insists she never had sex with Daemon.

The king encounters a ragged and hungover daemon who seems to confirm the accusations and proposes that he marry Rhaenyra. The king is angry and storms off. After Viserys accuses Daemon of seeking marriage to take the throne, Viserys banishes Targaryen and orders Rhaenyra to marry Ser Laenor Velaryon so a scandal can be averted and the crown strengthened. In following Rhaenyra’s accusations that Ser Otto has always tricked the king for his own gain, Viserys decides to dismiss Ser Otto from his position as his Hand. The monarch orders Grand Maester Mellos to provide Rhaenyra with an abortifacient tea.

Like Games of Thrones, House of Dragons is based on the medieval era of kings and kingdoms but is set approximately 300 years before Games of Thrones.
