It’s a premise for all sane Korean males by the age of 28, so future episodes may have to work around a prolonged absence for this central character. There is also controversy surrounding the show’s portrayal of autism to consider.

Overall, reactions from the autistic community were mixed, with some praising the program while others criticized it. Going forward, these reactions will need to be considered to ensure Season 2 is as authentic and respectful as possible. That’s what lead actress Park Eun-bin had in mind when she first cast the role. In fact, Eun-bin turned him down several times before saying yes, as she recently revealed in a conversation with TV Guide:

“I had to treat this as drama in order for there to be some media impact. I didn’t want to have a negative impact on the ASD community,” Park said. “I felt that I couldn’t have any stereotypes or prejudices on this project. That was one of my main concerns,” he continued. “Because this drama and its themes touch and affect a lot of people, I felt a lot of responsibility.”

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 1 Recap

So Attorney Extraordinaire Woo ends with a pretty good final episode, one that wraps up most of the main plot points while glossing over others, so it’s a bit mixed, but it’s certainly more positive than negative.

Min-Woo’s character was handled pretty badly and he almost got redemption at the end, but I would have liked to see a resolution for his actual career. Even one scene (unless I obviously missed something, in which case please comment below!) to show him would have been enough to get him a contract in Hanbada. Jun-Ho’s character is also a character that didn’t have much depth, but otherwise, everyone else had a really solid arc.

The rest of the show is pretty well written and the cases themselves are hands down one of the best parts of this series.

There’s a constant effort across the board to bring back to life this drama that made the early parts of it so endearing, and we’ll get to that in this latest chapter. With an extended running time of 1 hour and 22 minutes, Lawyer Extraordinary Woo does well to bring it all back with this shot of Young-Woo riding the subway and watching the whales outside. Whether or not there will be a second season is up for debate, but one thing is certain: this has been a wild roller-coaster ride of  K-drama for weeks!.
