Where is the End of the Road filmed?
Belen has the second most populous population in Valencia County, New Mexico. Founded in 1740, it was originally known as Nuestra Señora de Belén, which translates to Our Lady of Bethlehem. Today it is better known as The Hub City and prides itself on offering everything a larger city can. Hollywood has used Bethlehem as its setting since the 1970s, and it’s easy to see why.
The location of the center can resemble many different locales and often periods. Local government logistical support is also encouraging filmmakers to visit such classics as Convoy (1978), The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Swing Vote in 2008 and more recently Cry Macho in 2021, all filmed here, as well as mini-series and TV shows that also made use of the landscape.
Even making a list of movies shot in New Mexico would be a thankless task, but it’s safe to say that this is one of the most famous filming locations in the world. The range of venues is huge and varied., which is not surprising that so many filmmakers come here. Here are some places and movies you may have seen.
“Terminator 2” was filmed in Santa Fe, “Independence Day” was filmed on the San Agustin plains, and “Sicario” was filmed in Albuquerque in a road trip film, places almost become characters and it seems End of the Road (2022) understands this and uses the concept well.
