American Horror Stories Season 2 Episode 5: Release Date, Cast, Spoilers, Promo, Plot, and Everything you need to know.

In 2021, a new show was launched by the minds behind American Horror Story (2011-) and American Crime Story (2016-). The show would be a direct spin-off of the first and would also serve as the third installment in the American Story anthology franchise created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. For this reason, American Horror Stories was created as a standalone anthology series, with each episode telling its own story without needing a “single season” story arc as presented in American Horror Story.

The first season consisted of seven episodes., some that tie into the original American Horror Story, and the two premiere episodes and season finale going back to “Murder House,” the iconic location from Season 1.

Other episodes of American Horror Stories dealt with “a banned movie that makes its viewers commit suicide, a murderous Santa Claus, a woman who would do anything to get pregnant, and a nightmarish camping trip.”

American Horror Stories Season 2 Storyline

Others are purely standalone stories. The fun part is not knowing what’s coming next, a technique Murphy and Falchuk have mastered over the years. Here’s the series synopsis from FX on Hulu: “American Horror Stories is a spin-off of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning hit anthology series, American Horror Story.

American Horror Stories is a weekly anthology series featuring a story of varying horror in each episode, a traveling monster show, a haunted hotel, and the apocalypse itself. The TV series has bred a legion of dedicated fans awaiting the horrors the next chapter will bring. The franchise is produced by Twentieth Television. The series is produced by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Alexis Martin Woodall, John J. Gray, and Manny Coto.

Why did Season 10 split into 2 parts?

AHS creator Ryan Murphy said that season 10 would tell two stories since the 1984 finale in 2019. Murphy also hinted that year that the new season would feature aliens. When asked by TV Guide what the theme of Season 10 would be, he pointed them to Episode 8 from 1984. In this episode, a True Crime reporter mentions aliens in a conversation with the characters Emma Roberts and Angelica Ross (who later starred in season 10 of AHS). Notably, in this exchange, he also mentions Bigfoot, which would become a major plot point in an episode of the AHS spinoff American Horror Stories. American Horror Stories also gives us another clue as to why the original show split Season 10 in two.

Story Every Week showed the show was willing to experiment with shorter stories. Different seasons had different episode lengths depending on the length of the story they wanted to tell. For example, 1984 had nine episodes, while seasons like The Freak Show had 13. The show is also a homage to Hollywood history attracts people during the Great Depression and for decades to come. With a double feature, a cinema would offer two films for the price of one. Sometimes this would be a low-budget “B” picture (which is where the term “B-movie” comes from) followed by a higher budget “a” picture.

In other cases, it was a combination of two genres, either sci-fi (which inspired the Rocky Horror song “Science Fiction Double Feature”) or horror (which inspired American Horror Story season 10). Murphy is a well-known fan of classic Hollywood, as can be seen on shows he’s worked on like Hollywood and Fight: Bette and Joan, and this appears to be his latest tribute to, Hollywood’s golden age. Season 10 of American Horror Story airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m.ET/9 p.CT on FX. Episodes are available on Hulu the next day.
