Will there be a Day Shift 2? Is there going to be a Sequel?

Day-Shift-2

Day Shift 2: Everything you need to know about, renewed or canceled, cast, plot, and release date.

Day Shift’s perfect blend of comedy, horror, and vampire action has all the makings of a movie franchise, but there’s no word yet on whether Netflix will greenlight Day Shift 2. Starring Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Jamie Foxx and 6 Underground’s Dave Franco, Day Shift offers little new to the crowded vampire genre, but still manages to captivate with its intentionally goofy one-liners, clever character beats, and imaginative action scenes.

While Vampire’s predictable plots and conflicting rules may set off some critical red flags., Day Shift proves to be a confident no-brainer that doesn’t outlive its welcome, offering pretty much everything you’d expect from a light-hearted popcorn flick. In Day Shift, Foxx plays Bud, who pretends to be a pool cleaner. However, after saying goodbye to his family each morning, he essentially morphs into a vigilante hero like Marvel’s vampire slayer Blade and then sells vampire teeth for a daily paycheck.

Over the course of the film, Bud transforms from a lone wolf into a team. A leader when Seth, played by Dave Franco, and Heather, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, join forces with him to slay an ancient vampire. Day Shift has a pretty coherent ending that leaves hardly a stone unturned. The Netflix original movie doesn’t even include a post-credits scene to set up a possible sequel. However, Day Shift’s vampire storyline and world-building suggest that its universe is scalable enough to include more stories about Bud and Seth’s vampire-hunting misadventures. Building on that premise, here’s everything we know about Day Shift 2.

Day Shift 2 Release Date

Principal photography for Day Shift began in April 2021 and concluded in August 2021. Since the film was released on Netflix on August 12, 2022, a year after filming wrapped, Day Shift 2 could be released in late 2020, 2023, or early 2024, subject to approval by Netflix for a sequel.

Day Shift 2 Renewed or Canceled?

So far, Netflix hasn’t made any official announcements about Day Shift 2. The film’s critical ratings have been predictably average or below so far, but Netflix’s history with similar action films like Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction suggests that commercial success is more determinant of a film’s future than its critical ratings. Day Shift’s laid-back drama and high-octane action could lead to another big hit, but only time will tell if its fangs will dig deep enough into Netflix’s streaming numbers to merit a sequel.

Day Shift 2 Plot

Though Day Shift doesn’t have any cliffhangers hinting at future storylines, the buddy-cop-style central drama could have a lot more tricks up its sleeve. Considering that vampires are creatures of the night and survive the daylight only by applying sunscreen in the Day Shift universe, Bud may encounter new types of vampires that are stronger than the southerners, easters, spiders, users, and juveniles from the first movie.

The shift could also work well as a spinoff if spearheaded by Snoop Dogg’s western cowboy flair or the roundhouse kicks of Steve Howey and Scott Adkins. Although Bud decapitates Seth in “Day Shift”, Seth survives because he was transformed by an Uber vampire. Bud and Seth team up with Heather and Big John to save Bud’s and his family’s lives.

Big John is bitten and seemingly sacrifices himself, although he turns out to be very much alive in the film’s final scene. Bud kills Audrey with his silver cord after Jocelyn stabs the vampire in the back. Then Seth covers for Bud in front of his boss and Jocelyn makes a fucking promise. That won’t lie anymore. In the anticipated sequel, we may learn more about El Jefe (or The Boss), the legendary 700-year-old European vampire who is said to run the drug trade in Los Angeles. The story could potentially take place anywhere in the world as the war between the syndicate and the vampires rages almost everywhere. A spin-off about the Nazarian brothers could be developed.

Day Shift Recap

Perry’s action sensibility has always been a bit freer than his 87eleven peers, and it shows in Day Shift looking different from Nobody or the John Wick films. His more flamboyant impulses are showcased in this film. Hints at Wick’s “tactical cool” style, but the supernatural setting allows him to incorporate more over-the-top elements. This lends many action scenes, such as a breathtaking day group trip to a suburban hive of vampires (with an extended, show-stealing appearance from DTV action superstar Scott Adkins as the vampire hunter), an atmosphere that can be better summed up as “Sam Raimi meets Blade.”

In a wrestling battle royale”. The chaos in this environment feels entirely appropriate, coming from a director affectionately known as “Loco” by the stunt community. Best of all, none of the film’s intricate fight scenes, intense gunfights, or vicious car chases are obscured by poor editing or unnecessary CGI.

Days when the most valuable element of “movie magic” in a movie were the intrepid stuntmen who risked their lives and limbs to capture real emotion in front of a movie camera. Day Shift’s place on Netflix means there will be a lot of competition for viewers’ attention, as the platform’s seemingly endless stream of content always transitions to the next movie or series, without new releases spending much time in the spotlight. It’s also having to contend with the increasingly negative stigma surrounding recent Netflix original films. Hopefully, these obstacles don’t stop the film’s potential audience from discovering it. invest in the future.
