The Serpent Queen Season 1 Episode 3 When Catherine came to France it was an engagement arranged by her uncle. Her dowry was the only thing keeping her in France, but without letting that out of the window, Catherine must find all sorts of ways to assert her position at the French court.

She has the big job of convincing everyone, especially the king, why she shouldn’t just be replaced with another better prospect for Henry. She has an advantage in this situation because the king already seems to have a soft spot for her and makes it clear at the end of the episode that she is not to be underestimated.

After Catherine discovers Henry and Diane’s love story, she tries to get Henry to visit her and spend more time with her. The further he gets from her, the less chance he has of conceiving, and Catherine needs to be with her. Son ASAP because her uncle, Pope Clement VII, has died and there is now no one to pay for her dowry.

When the king considers a surrogate wife for Henry, Diane tries to turn the tide in his favor. She tries to get Henry to marry her, but Catherine’s quick thinking prevents her plans. Still, Diane remains Catherine’s biggest problem.

As Henry draws closer to her, Catherine feels constant opposition from Diane, who now also has a spy in her inner circle. She knows Catherine inside out, which makes it harder for the young Medici to win her husband’s heart.

The visit of the Prussian princesses considered compatible with Henry and his older brother, troubles both Catherine, and Diane. When a nice trip with the princesses turns into a bloody affair, Catherine realizes how much she loves Diana. about Henry.
