The Patient Storyline

In the Patient, a psychotherapist named Alan Strauss (Steve Carell) finds himself in captivity after his patient Sam Fournier (Domhnall Gleeson) decides to undergo more intensive therapy to address his serial killer tendencies. Strauss urges Fournier to share his trauma and set aside his desire to kill in order to gain access to Fournier’s mind.

Fournier is looking for a way to break free and unbalance himself. However, caring for his patient in an uncomfortable environment prompts the Therapist to confront his own family issues., like the death of his wife and estranged son. The Patient debuts on FX on Hulu on August 30, 2022, with the first two episodes and then a weekly episode that lands every Tuesday. The series consists of ten hour-long episodes that will keep you hooked through October 25, 2022.

The Patient Episode 3 Recap

The third episode was short, but it revealed new information and also provided a welcome last-minute change of dynamic.
