The film is directed by veteran Academy Award-nominated director Charles Shyer of Father of the Bride, Private Benjamin and Alfie. Shyer also co-wrote the film’s screenplay with writer Rebecca Connor (The Family) and David Golden. Timothy O.Johnson of Johnson Production Group, Margret Huddleston and Stephanie Slack are serving as producers, with Hartley and Norman Stephens serving as executive producers.

The Noel Diary’ Netflix Christmas Movie Release Date

We originally predicted the Christmas movie for Christmas 2021, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the film will be released for the 2022 holiday season, with the Netflix release date set for November 24, 2022. It’s been billed as the “big blockbuster Christmas movie” of 2022.

Netflix’s The Noel Diary is an adaptation of Richard Paul Evans’ best-selling novel of the same name, and its tagline is pretty long: Best-selling author Jacob Churcher hasn’t been home in almost twenty years, not since his mentally ill mother kicked him out of the house when he was only sixteen.

When a lawyer calls him days before Christmas to inform him that his estranged mother has passed away and left him her home, Jacob returns not only to settle the inheritance but also to try and reconcile with the past and the pain and abuse he experienced as a child.

Plus, cleaning your house might be a little less depressing than spending the holidays alone watching reruns of Christmas classics. But it turns out the house has more than troubled memories, Jacob’s mother had become a collector and he had to scavenge through two decades of disorder.

As Jacob digs through the rubble like an archaeologist, he uncovers many mysterious items, including a journal left by someone named Noel, a young woman he cannot remember who lived with Jacob’s family while she was pregnant stayed.

This is not the only echo of the past. Jacob has an unexpected visitor, Rachel, a woman who is looking for the mother who put her up for adoption thirty years ago. United in their quest to make sense of the past and rewrite their future, Jacob and Rachel begin their search for Noel in. On their way, they find more than they can imagine, including grace, forgiveness, and a chance at love.

Production on The Noel Diary took place in Stamford, Connecticut between May 24 and June 28, 2021, according to Production Weekly issue 1241. Additional filming took place in Vancouver, BC, Canada. -Location. In May 2021, the Stamford Advocate reported that they were hiring extras for the production. The Hartford Courant reported that Manchester Memorial Hospital was decorated for the holidays in mid-June 2021

The DailyMail also reported several images including Justin Hartley on set in late June 2022 (close to the end of the film).
