The Midnight Club Season 2: Everything you need to know about, Renewed or Canceled, Cast, Plot, and Release Date.
The Netflix thriller series The Midnight Club is created by Mike Flanagan, who has also created the Netflix series The Haunted Bly Manor and The Haunted Hill House. The Midnight Club tells the story of a group of terminally ill young adults living together in a hospice. At midnight they meet to share stories. One night they make a promise that whoever dies first must return and contact the others from beyond the grave. When one of them dies, terrible events take place in the hospice.
The series only premiered in early October and fans were dying to know if there would be a second season of the show. However, Netflix has now confirmed that The Midnight Club has been canceled after one season.
When was The Midnight Club canceled?
Unfortunately, Netflix has confirmed that there will be no second season of The Midnight Club. The news comes at the same time it was announced that the show’s creator, Mike Flanagan, had signed a new multi-year deal with Amazon Studios. Fans of the show tweeted about their disappointment at the show’s cancellation, with one person saying, “The Midnight Club on Netflix has been canceled, why is everything I love leaving me?” after I started watching it…”
What has The Midnight Club cast said about the show being canceled?
As of now, cast members Iman Benson, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, Annarah Cymone, Chris Sumpter, Adia, Aya Furukawa and Sauriyan Sapkota have not spoken out about the cancellation of the series.
Will we get answers for the cliffhangers at the end of season one?
The Midnight Club season 1 finale ended with many unanswered questions. Will Sandra be back now after her cancer was misdiagnosed? What is the meaning of the tattoo on Georgina’s head? Why will Shasta come out from behind pubs? Are the creepy shadow and the old woman real?
Although the series has already been canceled, we still hope to get answers to these questions. During the press conference for the show that happened in October, series creator Mike Flanagan said they have answers to the cliffhangers at the end of season 1 and if the show wasn’t renewed, Flanagan said he could unveil it on Twitter. During a press conference, he answered by saying: “We also didn’t answer some of the biggest questions of the season. Those answers exist, but they should apply to the next season. “If it’s not, I’ll post it on Twitter. Then at least we can all talk about it. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for some answers!
What did we expect from another season of The Midnight Club on Netflix?
The Season 1 finale left us with a huge cliffhanger revealing that Dr. Stanton is a survivor, but the tattoo on her neck means she is a former member of Paragon. We would expect Dr. Stanton’s backstory is fleshed out. fully, revealing the origins of his illness, how he got into Paragon, how he ended up leaving the group, why he is at odds with Shasta aka Julia Jayne, and whether or not his motives for running Brightcliffe are well-intentioned. Creepy. Llonka and Kevin, are the only two current members of the Midnight Club who can see the Brightcliff ghost couple. Little is known about the couple, but the season one finale may have revealed that they are in fact Stanley Oscar Freelan and Vera Freelan, the original owners of Brightcliff.
But why are Ilonka and Kevin able to see them? And, is Keving being possessed at night, forcing him to wander the halls of Brightcliff? Shasta, aka Julia Jayne, failed in her attempt to conduct the ritual in the basement, almost killing three young women in the process. Considering how determined Shasta is to conduct the ritual, we definitely haven’t seen the last of her. Lastly, a second season also begs the question of how long the remaining members of The Midnight Club have to live.
And whether or not we will expect new members to join the club. Since the series has been discontinued, these scenarios will not play on our screens. However, Flanagan teased that we can switch off via Twitter. The Wrap, Flanagan told them, “I made a promise to everyone at Comic-Con yesterday that I’ll be posting any answers to the Core Secrets on Twitter, which I’ll honor,” adding, “We made the decision with the writers’ room to not revealing two of our greatest existential mysteries from the show so we can have a say in season two.
