Savage Salvation: Ending Explained.

Although Savage Salvation is a revenge action film, it’s also a love story. Almost half of the runtime is dedicated to exploring the relationship between Shelby John (Jack Huston) and Ruby Red (Willa Fitzgerald), two troubled people struggling with their opiate addiction before Ruby Red finally dies and Shelby John seeks revenge. Revenge is the main theme of the film, but not the only one. Savage Salvation is also a tragic love story. 

Shelby John and Ruby Red’s relationship has great potential, but it ends abruptly, setting the former down a path of violence and destruction. Here’s everything you need to know about the Savage Salvation ending. SPOILERS BELOW.

What is the concept of Savage Salvation?

We are never given the exact reasons why Shelby John and Ruby Red took refuge in opiate addiction. As the film begins, they are already addicted and are struggling with the constant presence of their addiction in their lives. The film begins with the executive murder of a man whose name we later learn is Elvis. Then the story goes back a month. Local Sheriff Mike Church (Robert De Niro) visits the scene where the youngest opiate addiction victim overdosed. He regrets what has happened to his community in recent years and how things have deteriorated since he was younger. The scene changes and we are introduced to Shelby John riding his motorcycle home. Along the way, he acquires a plastic ring from a claw machine. When he gets home, he proposes to Ruby Red and promises to get her one with a diamond in the future. A jubilant ruby ​​red sweeps away her uneasiness and declares that she is perfectly satisfied with what she has received. However, their celebration soon turns to drug use when Shelby John and Ruby Red lose themselves in the sensation of their opioids. It is revealed that they have both been on drugs for a while and are stuck in this life. When Ruby Red regains consciousness, she decides to stop using drugs altogether.

Now that they’re engaged, she firmly believes they need to change before they’re ready to start a new page in their lives. Ruby Red convinces Shelby John to join her, despite warning her that the next few days will be difficult. Nightmare. Shelby John is right because things will get worse for her before they get better. But throughout the process, they support each other and eventually break their addiction, which leads to positive changes. Ruby Red begins volunteering at the local church. And gets a job at a thrift store while Shelby John tries to save up enough money to buy a diamond ring for his fiancee. At first, things go perfectly for the two of them, but then Elvis realizes that Shelby John is no longer buying his drugs and talks to him. Realizing what happened, he lures Ruby Red in by convincing her that Shelby John broke his promise. to her and used it again, resulting in Ruby Red punching herself and dying of an overdose. Shelby John holds Elvis and those who supplied him with drugs to be responsible and systematically attacks the organization, taking out their leaders one by one until he gets Sheriff Church, who lost his son to drugs, Elvis Fang sympathizes with him before he goes too far.

Who Is Behind the Drug Operation?

Before Elvis came back into their lives, Shelby John and Ruby Red were doing just fine. They attend Ruby Red’s nephew’s birthday party, where her family welcomes Shelby John. Ruby Red’s brother-in-law Peter (John Malkovich) even offers Shelby John a job. While Ruby Red’s mother may seem skeptical at first, she’s not actively opposed to her daughter’s relationship with Shelby John. Shelby John and Ruby Red’s hopes of a life together are shattered after his death. Although Ruby Red died after overdosing on Smack, she would never have taken it if Elvis hadn’t lied to her. Shortly after Ruby Red’s death, John ambushes Elvis in his own home. He forces the man’s wife and children to leave. before torturing him for his supplier’s name. Elvis tries to remain silent at first, but his defiance doesn’t last long when Shelby John shoots him with a nail gun. Elvis reveals that he gets his stash from a man named Darius before Shelby John. sets several nails through his head. On the other hand, Darius proves to be very accommodating. The man quickly realizes that nothing short of the truth will get him out of his current situation alive when he meets Shelby John. His partner isn’t that smart and he shot both kneecaps. Darius tells Shelby John that he gets his drugs from a man named  Coyote, prompting him to attack Coyote’s hideout and kill all of Coyote’s men.

When Shelby John confronts the Coyote, the sheriff arrives. Church’s late sons Maken and Shelby John played for the high school team, so Church considers Shelby John his son and begs him to give up. does just that when one of Coyote’s associates shoots her, seriously injuring Church’s partner. Shelby John kills said employee while Church kills the Coyote. Before Coyote dies, he calls someone. As Shelby John picks up the phone and dials the number, he hears a recorded greeting from a company called Wild Cat Tracking. Confused, he asks the coyote what that is, but the other man refuses to answer. After Church gets his partner from the hospital, Shelby John tracks the number of the drug trafficking leader in his community, and it turns out to be none other than Peter, Ruby Red’s brother-in-law through his sister Darlene. Peter was approached by a man years ago to deliver his product. Peter was enthusiastic about the first experiences and he took over the man’s business. He has since poisoned his community and ruined it from within.

Is Peter Dead?

Following the big revelation that Peter is responsible for flooding his community with opioid drugs, Shelby John shows him a needle and instructs him to use it on himself to make it clear he’s just as good as Peter wants to kill. Ruby Red has died. Peter vehemently refuses and states that he is not an addict. Peter manages to shoot  Shelby John but only hits the other man. The two men fight desperately until Shelby John overpowers the other man and injects him with the opioid, killing him.

Not least, this has given the community a temporary respite from drugs. Probably in the future, someone will take Peter’s empty place because that is the nature of these things, but for now,  people living in the area will be able to enjoy a moment of peace.

Will Sheriff Church Arrest Shelby John?

Following the big revelation that Peter is responsible for flooding his community with opioids, Shelby John shows him a needle and instructs him to use it on himself, making it clear that he might as well kill Peter. Ruby Red has died. Peter vehemently refuses and states that he is not an addict. Peter manages to shoot  Shelby John but only hits the other man. The two men fight desperately until Shelby John overpowers the other man and injects him with the opioid, killing him.

Not least, this has given the community a temporary respite from drugs. It’s likely that in the future someone will take Peter’s vacant place because that’s the nature of these things, but for now, the people who live in the area can enjoy a moment of quiet. Shelby John was about to confront Church when Church caught up to him, but then Church’s partner was shot and the sheriff had to leave. This made Shelby John believe he had God. Disapproval for what had been done. However, human laws work differently. After all, he killed several people, and no matter who they were, the law of the country would not allow anyone to escape after committing multiple counts of murder. So, in all likelihood, Church will arrest Shelby John.
