We know there have been many questions about the recently announced Outlander prequel, including what it means for Season 8. Will the flagship show end soon? We recently shared a somewhat hopeful message from showrunner Matthew B. Roberts on the subject, and now we have something else courtesy of Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming.

Speaking to Deadline, he made it clear that there’s still a chance there could be more from the original series starring Sam. Heughan and Caitriona Balfe: “Outlander is such an important series for us that we’d like to have as much Outlander as possible [The prequel] will absolutely [detract from Starz’s commitment to the original series].

What I showed with the Power franchise is that we can have different storylines around the same foundation. We think we can do that with Outlander too. They are by no means mutually exclusive. Busby did not comment on the contract negotiations, which may include Balfe, Heughan, Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, and John Bell. Many of these actors have been on the show for years, with Heughan and Balfe having been there from the start. This could be one of many components of an 8th season, and we’re less aware that the cast has expressed interest in continuing the show in the past.

Outlander prequel “Blood of My Blood” is officially in development at Starz.

The spin-off series focuses on the love story between Jamie Fraser’s parents. The spin-off series Blood of My Blood was officially ordered on August 4th and will chronicle the love story of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. According to Deadline, the Starz exec will not comment on contract negotiations for the cast of Outlander, including Balfe, Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, and John Bell, among others, beyond season seven. out, Busby shared, “We’re still working out the details, but Diana Gabaldon will definitely be involved. She is a fantastic writer and has been a pleasure to work with season after season. We will continue to work with her.

Busby defenses Gabaldon’s role in the series

We will continue to work with her. Busby declined to comment on the prequel’s release schedule or its correlation with the release of Gabaldon’s novel of the same name.
