It has been 1,183 days since the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones left King’s Landing in ruins and charred flesh. All these months later, HBO’s House of the Dragon returns to the Westeros capital, seemingly rebuilt and thriving. The Targaryens sit on the Iron Throne (which looks even cooler), dragons encircle the city without the citizens flinching in terror, and the 7 Kingdoms once again stand on the brink of a war of succession. is obviously a series of prequels to Game of Thrones, it’s not immediately clear how the prequel is prequel prequel prequel. We are many generations away from Daenerys Targaryen, a presence that looms over the city that has yet to be destroyed.
(Daenerys is a distant descendant of Princess Rhaenyra, whom we see flying over the city on her dragon, an image not dissimilar to Daenerys’s entrance to Kings Landing.) For those who haven’t read the Game of Thrones books, would you have predicted Ned Stark would be dead by the end of season one? Probably not.
So, who will be the great death of House of the Dragon Season 1? I’m just thinking about Princess Rhaenyra. Simply because House of the Dragon appears to be building much of its future. Story (only from what we saw in episode one) on whether Princess Rhaenyra will take the throne. Therefore, no death will be more shocking than hers.

King Viserys I Targaryen and his Queen Aemma are expecting the birth of their son. Queen Aemma gets into trouble giving birth. In the end, King Viserys sacrifices his life for the fetus, which dies a few hours later. Prince Daemon is deposed as heir and sent back to his “Lady Queen”. King Viserys I inform Princess Rhaenyra that she will now be next in line to the throne. But he warns them of a terrible secret, a winter that some call a song of ice and fire.
